Scott Wilson Case Study
Scott Wilson approached Quest initially to see if we could assist in building a school for their company charity, the Scott Wilson Millennium Project (SWMP). This charity is supported by employees of Scott Wilson and focuses upon the relief of poverty, hardship and distress among children in developing countries throughout the world.
Quest identified a school building on one of their long-term project sites in Inhambane, Mozambique which was in desperate need of renovation work. The SWMP Trust raised funds of £25,000 to rebuild the school from scratch. Employees were then given the opportunity to spend one month in Mozambique as part of a team of 14 employee volunteers who worked alongside local Mozambican labourers to complete the school.
Three teams of 14 employees each spent one month in Inhambane to successfully complete the school by July 2008
The project was a resounding success and feedback from employees has been 100% positive. Many employees commented on how much they had learned from the local communities, but also how much they had benefitted from working with team-mates from within Scott Wilson who they would not usually have met.
Volunteer Diane Riley: "This is a brilliant opportunity to make a tangible difference in an area that requires a facility."
